The high quality of the presentations that we have at the iMoot is what keeps both presenters and attendees coming back year after year. If you are new to presenting at an iMoot - don't worry, you'll get help and guidance from the team to make sure everything runs smoothly.

To submit a presentation proposal please select the 'Add Entry' tab below. We'll do the rest, and get back to you to confirm whether it has been accepted.

Sessions for the iMoot are to be a maximum of 45 minutes long including question time.

If you can not see the 'Add Entry' tab, either you haven't set up an account on the site, or the call for presentations has closed.

Thanks!

Performance Module: Beyond Self and Peer Assessment

Content Type: LMS Case Studies and Research

Language: English

Description of Presentation

Assessing student performances (speeches, medical procedures, dance/drama, practical trade skills) can be a time-consuming chore that consumes full class periods with limited interaction. With video assessment in Moodle, teachers use digital cameras or iPads to video record student project presentations and upload to a class website. This combined with the rubrics feature borrowed from the Assignment module gives teachers an easy-to-use interface to evaluate student performances on multiple scales with qualitative and quantitative criteria. Although rubrics have been used effectively in the Workshop Module for self-reflection and peer assessment, the Performance Module (also called the Video Assessment Module) manages the process with an easy interface to save time for teachers and students. Also, in 2016, new features were added for Whole-class synchronous assessment using tablets and a Training Pre-test to calibrate student self-assessment with the teacher's.  Thus, this tool flexibly combines training, whole-class, self, peer and teacher assessment into one total grade for the presentation, role-plays, dramas, or other performances. This contributed module won the Best Innovation award at MoodleMoot Japan 2015 and was a featured presentation at MoodleMoot Australia 2015.
