The high quality of the presentations that we have at the iMoot is what keeps both presenters and attendees coming back year after year. If you are new to presenting at an iMoot - don't worry, you'll get help and guidance from the team to make sure everything runs smoothly.

Sessions for the iMoot are to be a maximum of 45 minutes long including question time.

Designing courses for Personalized learning. The use of quiz for selecting sections

Description of Presentation

In this presentation we answer the question '"How can a student chose to study one part of the learning material that is placed inside a Moodle-Course?"

The answer has the following steps:

  1. Structuring the learning content in Moodle sections
  2. We give the capability to a student to choose k of the n sections, with k< = n. For example if n=6 the student can chose k=2.  This is done inside a Quiz- Activity, which contains one and only, close question. In this question, there are subquestions where the studentcan select 'Yes' or 'No'. 
  3. Based on the grade that the student receives in the quiz, we create restrict conditions which allows or not the "unhide" of respective sections. 

In this presentation we analyze:

  1. The mathematical solution of the problem
  2. The way that a spreadsheet can be used for the production of suitable 'Unique per choice grade' in the quiz.
  3. An example of this solution within a Moodle course.
  4. The parameters that we have to take in mind when using this method.

Using this method together with group creation ( group choice plugin) and the existence of self-assessment activities ( quizzes or lessons) give us the capability to completely personalize a Moodle- Course.
